Stepping off the train and catching sight of the gilded gates for the first time felt like entering another world. I recently visited Versailles with a couple of friends on a day trip from Paris. Even though I’d seen pictures online, nothing quite prepares you for how massive and ornate the palace actually is.

Walking through the main entrance, we were immediately surrounded by extravagant décor—gold accents, marble floors, and artwork covering every inch of the walls. The Hall of Mirrors was easily one of the highlights. I’d heard about it in history class, but being there in person was surreal: dozens of glittering chandeliers, mirrored arches that reflected the sunlight, and a ceiling painted with scenes of royal triumphs. It gave me a whole new appreciation for how over-the-top French royalty could be.

The gardens were just as impressive. Even in colder weather, they looked like something out of a classic painting. Perfectly trimmed hedges stretched on forever, and the fountains—though not all running—still added a sense of grand scale to the place. My friends and I wandered around, exploring hidden paths and snapping photos by the statues. It felt like a giant, beautiful maze.

What struck me most was imagining how people actually lived in a place this luxurious centuries ago. Touring the King’s apartments, I overheard other visitors talking about the daily routines of Louis XIV. It’s hard to believe that anyone once called Versailles “home”—it’s almost more museum than mansion at this point. Still, there’s an unmistakable energy when you walk those halls, like stepping back in time for just a moment.

By the end of the day, my feet were killing me, but I’d do it all again in a heartbeat. Versailles is not just a museum full of pretty rooms—it’s an immersive piece of history that gives you a glimpse into a world of absolute luxury. As someone who’s into architecture and history, I can’t think of a better place to soak up both. If you ever find yourself in Paris with a day to spare, add Versailles to your must-see list. I was only a kid the first time I visited Neuschwanstein Castle, but it left such a lasting impression that I still think about it now, at fifteen. Back then, it felt like walking into a real-life fairy tale—the castle’s white walls and towering spires perched high on a hill, surrounded by lush forests and mountains. Even from a distance, it looked magical.

One of my most vivid memories is standing on the Marienbrücke (Mary’s Bridge) nearby, getting an incredible view of the castle and snapping photos like crazy. I remember feeling both excited and a little nervous, since the bridge is pretty high up and can get crowded. But the view was absolutely worth it. It was like looking at a storybook scene in real life.

When I think about Neuschwanstein Castle today, I still feel that same sense of wonder. It’s not just the architecture or the scenery—it’s the whole atmosphere, like stepping back in time or into a dream. I’m sure if I went back now, I’d notice even more details I missed before. It’s definitely one of those places that never stops feeling magical, no matter how old you are.

Even though I was really little when I visited Budapest, a few things stand out in my mind. One of the main things I recall is how the city looked so vibrant and full of life—even if I was too young to fully appreciate it at the time. Everything seemed enormous: the old buildings, the bridges stretching across the Danube, and the bustling markets where we browsed for souvenirs.

My favorite memory has to be the goulash. It was this beef stew-like soup with potatoes and a rich, spicy flavor. I remember being surprised at how hearty and comforting it tasted, especially after spending hours walking around sightseeing. Even though I was a picky eater back then, I couldn’t stop dipping bread into the thick broth.
